Hei kaikki peräisin Suomi! (That's hi to everybody in Finnish...at least that is what ´the charming hostess last night said it meant!´) Taxi arrived in Polwarth at 3.45 am Saturday and the flights from Edina to the Dam and then on to Helsinki were on time. Quick taxi to the hotel (a wonderful Art Deco influenced building) and out we went scouting for some Scandic charm. We enjoyed an educational cruise taking in the extensive archipeligo. A scorching May day on the water - what better way to start our trip to Helsinki! We did a recce of the Market, visited some churches and spilled out across the cobbled quayside, not literally you understand! Tomorrow we look forward to some more sightseeing and engaging in some meaningful academic discourse over a few cups of water...

ReplyDeleteCheers faither. Matti says he is looking for the CVs and application forms for your students. I said you would be right onto that! Anyway, what you looking to be brought back from our travels?
ReplyDeleteHey Isobel -Moomin Mamma has got it in for you now!
ReplyDeleteCan you ask Mark to bring me a fur coat back please - I'll not bother with the knives - there are enough out here already!
Have fun - if you meet real Moomins - can you bring one back for my cats to play with? Think this covers your 3 days - also- will ask our catering people to do the soup basket thing?
Yes, the garlic soup was a real winner. The bonus is that there would be no need for any cleaning up. We are resourceful that way! I will get Issie on the case for the Moomintroll trawl...I on the other hand am on the hunt to snare a Snork Maiden, or two!
